UCalgary Open Logic Textbook Leads in Accessibility
Professor has produced an accessible version of the free textbook in use in 春色直播 Philosophy 279 (Logic I) course. The new version can now be used by students relying on assistive technologies, such as screen reader software used by readers with low or no vision. It is now one of the few available logic textbooks, and the only free option, that is fully accessible.
Professor Zach will report on his experience in making the textbook accessible in tomorrow's session of the in a short talk entitled "Accessible Open Textbooks in Math-Heavy Disciplines." The lessons he learned will be of interest to other faculty contemplating the creation or adoption of open educational resources, especially in disciplines that rely heavily on mathematical formulas. These include not just mathematics, physics, and computer science, but also economics and psychology, where statistics is heavily used.
