Professor appears before the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicines’ Committee
was one of six experts to appear before the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicines’ Committee on Developing a Research Agenda and Research Governance Approaches for Climate Intervention Strategies that Reflect Sunlight to Reflect the Earth in Washington, DC on April 30. The Committee is charged with developing a research agenda and recommending research governance approaches for addressing solar geoengineering proposals that seek to deliberately modify the climate system on a large-scale in order to offset climate change. Professor Hubert is Principal Investigator of a multi-year, international study, in collaboration with the University of Oxford, U.K. and the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies in Potsdam, Germany, which investigates the legal implications of developing these highly controversial climate technologies.
